Geranium Sunday at St. Paul – The Festival of
Pentecost, the 3rd Festival Sunday of the Church Year which
celebrates the work of the Holy Spirit, falls on May 27, 2012. In years past we
have celebrated this occasion with red and white geraniums in our church’s
chancel area. These flowers remind us of the special work of the Holy Spirit
and can be enjoyed all summer long. We will once again be getting the geraniums
from King Berry in Waupaca for $3.75 each. A special sign-up sheet can be found
on the round table in the fellowship area. The deadline for ordering is today.
Last Day of Sunday School - Sunday School
for the 2011-12 year will conclude today. Our thanks go out to our dedicated
teachers who faithfully taught the children of our congregation regularly week
after week. As a congregation we recognize them today for the work that they
have done throughout the year.
St. Paul Preschool End
of the Year Celebration - On Wednesday
May 23, 2012, St. Paul Preschool & “Little Learners” will have their End of
the Year Celebration with a brief service at 6:30 PM followed by refreshments
in the basement fellowship area. The Childcare and Preschool Program extends
their sincere thanks for all the donations and support that our congregational
membership has extended to them throughout the past year.
Armed Forces Sunday – St. Paul will observe Memorial Day on Sunday, May 27, 2012 with a
special collection for our Armed Forces with the “Faith Comes By Hearing” organization which strives to put the Bible into
the hands of our servicemen and women. “Faith Comes By
Hearing” has developed memory sticks (similar to an ipod)
which they are able to listen to at their convenience. At the moment more than
140,000 of these unique Bible memory sticks (ipods)
have been given to our armed forces. For many this is the very first time they have
had the opportunity to hear and listen to the Scriptures. The cost for one
Bible memory stick (ipod) is $25.00. It would be
wonderful if every family in our congregation could contribute $25.00 for one
as a way of thanking God for the tremendous sacrifice that these young men and
women are making for the defense of our country! Collections will be taken for
this beginning on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
We Are Sisters In Christ
–
All the women from St. Paul Lutheran Church
from middle school (6th Grade and up) are invited to a special
inspirational evening on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 6:30PM. Heather Ruesch, a singer and songwriter, will be the featured
speaker and presenter this evening. Heather will be speaking on life issues and
family values from a women’s perspective. She is married to Pastor Matthew Ruesch, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church (LCMS) of Bear
Creek, WI. Please be a part of this inspirational evening!
VBS Is Coming To St.
Paul’s - Vacation Bible School will be held on
Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 9AM-12:30PM.
Our theme for Vacation Bible School will be: “Our Father In Heaven”; which is a study of the Lord’s Prayer. VBS
ages are from preschool(4) through 5th
grade. Our thanks to members who have given offerings for VBS and all who
signed up for being volunteers. We have a full complement of volunteers to help
with lunch and mid-morning snack; however we still are in need of teachers as
well as volunteers to help with crafts. Catechism students are invited to be
helpers with the younger children on that day – (preschool &
kindergarten). If you have the morning
free – we’d love to have your help.
Please let Pastor, Sarah or Sandy Smith know if you are willing to help.
Ushers & Greeters
Still Needed – At the moment we only have three families who
have signed up to be ushers and greeters for late service (10:30/9:30AM) and
eleven families for early service (7:45). Many more are needed as the church
office prepares a new list. Why not consider doing it as a family project?
Getting children in your family to help you is an excellent “teachable” moment
for children that we give of ourselves to the Lord and His Work. Summer
understandably is a busy time, but allowances can be made so that a schedule
works for you and your family. Please take the time to call the church office
at 446-3251 to have your name added to the list.
June-July St. Paul
Connection Newsletter – The June/July issue of
the St. Paul Lutheran Connection will be in your church mailbox on Sunday, June
3, 2012. Deadline for the newsletter is Tuesday, May 29, 2012. A lot of
interesting events are being scheduled in the summer months…be sure to look for
it!
Summer Schedule Begins – Next Sunday, May 27, 2012 the summer schedule begins with services
at 7:45 & 9:30AM. Sunday School and Adult
Bible Class will take a summer break. The summer schedule remains in effect
through Labor Day weekend, September 2, 2012.
